Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Plant, Mississippi
The Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Plant is located in Port Gibson, Mississippi, south of Vicksburg, and adjacent to the Mississippi River, from which it draws its cooling water. It is Mississippi's first and only nuclear power plant, hosting one boiling water reactor whose maximum output capacity is 1,433MW, making it the most powerful single-unit nuclear power plant in the U.S. Its operating license was issued in 1984. It is owned an operated by the Entergy Corporation. A 520-foot cooling tower helps keep things cool.
