Better known for its unofficial name, Area 51, this is a secretive portion of the Nellis Range Complex where the Groom Lake Base is located. The base is a test and development installation that has been used by the Air Force, CIA, and other government agencies. The base's primary mission seems to be the development of airborne weapons systems, and is known to have been the testing site for the U2 spy plane, the SR-71 spy plane, the F-117 Stealth Fighter, and other classified aviation projects.
