Giumarra, considered the world’s largest table-grape grower, has 10,000 acres of grapes and farmland in Kern and Tulare counties. Giumarra harvests an estimated one out of every ten bunches of grapes picked in the US. Founded in the 1920s by Sicilian-born Giuseppe Giumarra, it was famously the target of the first United Fruit Workers of America strike under the leadership of Cesar Chavez in 1965. The Reedley facility packs, cools, and stores stone fruit.
