Assembly facility for Gulf Marine Fabricators, a major manufacturer of offshore surface and subsea structures used by the oil and gas industry, including rigs, pressure vessels, topsides, and floating hulls. Huge rigs are assembled here and at Gulf Marine Fabricators South Yard in Ingleside. Located three miles south on the Intracoastal Waterway. The yard covers 160 acres, with several large shed structures for fabrication and milling pipe, and has 3,000 feet of water frontage on the in the Intracoastal Waterway. Structures built here are moved by barge to other assembly sites, or shipped to oil production sites around the world. In 2006, Gulf Marine Fabricators was acquired by Gulf Island Fabrication, Inc.
