Harley-Davison is one of Milwaukee’s most famous companies. It was founded in 1903, and moved to this location, on Juneau Avenue, in 1906, eventually building a large brick-clad factory here, now its official US Headquarters. The company still manufactures some motorcycle components in Wisconsin, including engines at a plant in Menomonee Falls, and other components at two plants in Tomahawk, a small town in northern Wisconsin. The majority are made at its plant in York, Pennsylvania, and in Kansas City, or at its international plants in Brazil, India, and Thailand. There is a large museum and visitor center for the company in Milwaukee too.
