Hensley Field, Texas
Hensley Field is a former military base between Dallas and Fort Worth, once known as Naval Air Station Dallas. It was also home of a major aircraft plant for Vought Aircraft. The plant’s remaining buildings are now part of the Dallas Global Industrial Center, with some aerospace remnants, like a Lockheed wind tunnel facility. Much of the airfield has been neglected for decades, and its parking areas and even the runways of the airport were used for used car auction company logistics, and auto parts yards, becoming one of the largest collections of car logistics in the nation. More of an effort is now underway to develop the land of the old base.
