A plant on Green Lake, between Corpus Christi and Houston built in 1981, that makes around 545,000 tons of acrylonitriles per year. Acrylonitriles are a plastics feedstock, both highly flammable and toxic. They are a key ingredient in a wide range of consumer products, including synthetic fiber clothing and carpet, computer casings, building materials, and fuel pump hoses. There is a sister plant in Lima, Ohio.
