This building in Houston houses the Texas-based trading and administrative functions for Koch Industries. The company is involved in the trading of a number of commodities directly e.g. crude oil, assorted petroleum distillates, ethanol, gas, industrial metals, etc., as well as currencies and derivatives on fuel and freight rates. Koch, based in Wichita, Kansas, is one of the largest privately held companies in the United States, and a major player in the petrochemical industry. The company owns other companies (with a total of around 60,000 employees and $115 billon in revenue as of 2014), including Flint Hills Resources, which has a large refinery in Corpus Christi, and a chemical plant in Odessa. Koch owns or operates over 4,000 miles of pipelines in the country, and is a part owner of several other major pipelines, including the Colonial, which delivers distillates throughout the Southern and Eastern U.S. The company also owns the paper and packaging company Georgia Pacific, and the petrochemical polymer company Invista.
