Lake Dolores, California
Image

Lake Dolores was an artificial lake originally created in the late 1950's for private use, which was subsequently developed into a public water park attraction. The park operated under different names (Rock-a-Hoola Waterpark, Discovery Waterpark) and under different owners for decades, until closing for good in the summer of 2004. At one time boasting the world's longest raft ride, the park now lies abandoned; its slides and other usable equipment have been dismantled and sold off, while its remaining buildings have been graffitied and vandalized.
