Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California

Miramar used to be the "Top Gun" base for training Navy fighter pilots, until the Marine Corps took it over in the mid-1990's, after losing the two Marine Corps air stations in Orange County (El Toro and Tustin). Top Gun moved to Fallon, Nevada, and now Miramar is the west coast center for the Marine's air power. Fighters, heavy lifters, helicopters, and reconnaissance aircraft are based in this 24,000-acre facility on the outskirts of San Diego.
