Melrose Air Force Range, New Mexico

The Melrose Air Force Range is a 66,000 acre bombing range in eastern New Mexico, used as a simulated enemy landscape for training Air Force personnel. The range has a large circular 1:1 scale airfield analog target area, a large simulated urban area made mostly from shipping containers, and other infrastructure used by aircraft including unmanned drones. It is 20 miles west of Cannon Air Force Base, the home base for a major Special Operations Group of the Air Force, associated with Hurlburt Field in Florida.
