Minnesota Renaissance Festival Grounds, Minnesota
The Minnesota Renaissance Festival is the largest Renaissance festival in the nation, and has its own dedicated site, 20 miles southwest of the Twin Cities, next to a gravel pit and the Minnesota River, where a 16th century fantasy village has been created. It is managed by Mid-America Festivals, the nation's largest producer of outdoor themed events, which include Renaissance festivals in Florida, Kansas City, Michigan, and St. Louis. None are larger than the one in Minnesota, which attracts around 300,000 visitors during its annual festival, which takes place in August and September. Its 50th anniversary festival in 2020 was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
