Mojave Industrial Park, California

A hazardous industrial area has developed south of Mojave, east of Highway 14, where crude oil off-loading, and chemical, paint, and aerospace composite manufacturing takes place. Several abandoned industrial lots enclose contaminated, toxic debris, including a former smelter site, which is an EPA Superfund site.
