Mount Rushmore, South Dakota

Mount Rushmore is the crowning attraction in the attraction-packed Black Hills of South Dakota. Gutzon Borglum (supported by a crew of as many as 400 people) carved the four 60 foot tall presidential heads (Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt) out of the living rock face between 1927 and 1941. The first visitor center was completed in 1957.
