National Geospatial Intelligence Agency Arnold, Missouri

This is one of two sites operated by the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency outside of its headquarters in Virginia (where 10,000 people work). This suburban site, in Arnold, South of St. Louis, opened around 2003, to support the Agency’s site in downtown St. Louis (next door to the Anheuser Busch brewery) which has been operating for decades, as the Defense Mapping Agency, and then the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, which became the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency in 2003. The Agency provides location-based information to the federal government’s military and intelligence organizations. Their job, in a sense, is to know what everything is, and where it is, everywhere in the world, including in the USA. Its motto is "Know the Earth... Show the Way... Understand the World". These two St. Louis area sites are known as NGA West, and employ around a third of the Agency’s workforce. The NGA budget is classified.
