New Hampshire Motor Speedway, New Hampshire
With a mile long paved loop, and stands for an audience of tens of thousands, this is the largest vehicular racing facility in the state, and possibly all of New England. It is home of the longest-running motorcycle race in the US, the Loudon Classic, which started in 1923, and brings thousands of motorcyclists to the region as part of Laconia Motorcycle Week, which takes over much of the Lake Winnipesaukee region over a week in early summer, centered on Weirs Beach. It is said to be the second largest annual motorcycle gathering in the country, after Sturgis, South Dakota. The NH Motor Speedway has also been a NASCAR track since 1990. The facility was upgraded in 2008, and the now covers more than 1,200 acres, with a few types of tracks. It is owned by Speedway Motorsports Inc., which has seven other NASCAR tracks around the country, including Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It is a mile east of the old Shaker village at Canterbury.
