NIH Poolesville Animal Center, Maryland
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Animal Center in Dickerson, Maryland, is an isolated animal research center, developed on 500 acres of former farmland. It has several buildings and labs, housing animals used by various NIH research programs. The campus is home to behavioral research and animal holding programs. The Division of Veterinary Resources (DVR) supports NIH research through the procurement, housing, quarantine and care of animals used by the NIH Institutes in the Washington DC area.
