North Anna Nuclear Power Plant, Virginia

North Anna Nuclear Power Plant is located in Louisa, VA, adjacent to the Lake Anna reservoir, the source of its cooling water. The plant is home to two pressurized water reactors, and is operated by Virginia Electric & Power Company, a subsidiary of Dominion Energy. Unit 1 has an output capacity of around 903MW, while Unit 2 has an output capacity of around 972MW. Unit 1's operating license was issued in 1978, while Unit 2's operating license was issued in 1980. In 2011, North Anna Nuclear Power Plant became the first operating nuclear power plant in the U.S. to shut down due to a seismic event, when a 5.8 magnitude earthquake triggered an automatic shutdown of both reactors.
