North Pole Refinery, Alaska

This refinery in the town of North Pole was once Alaska's largest. In 2014, owner Flint Hills Resources decided to terminate refining operations while retaining those portions of the site relevant to their new oil storage and distribution facility. At its peak, the refinery could process up to 215,000 barrels of crude oil per day from the Trans-Alaska Pipeline into gasoline, jet fuel, heating oil, diesel, gas oil, and asphalt. Jet fuel, used by the airports and military bases in the state, once comprised about 60% of the refinery's production. Flint Hills Resources is owned by Koch Industries.
