Oak Creek Generating Station, Wisconsin

The Oak Creek Generating Station, located on the shore of Lake Michigan, has two major coal-fired power plants on the site, the Oak Creek Plant, and the Elm Road Generation Station, which together produce as much as 2,300 megawatts, making it the largest power production site in the state. The Oak Creek Plant has a capacity of 1,135 megawatts. Units 1-4, built in the 1950s, were retired in the 1980s. Units 5-8 are the current coal plants, which sent online from 1959 to 1967, each producing around 300 megawatts. North of it, the Elm Road Generating Station has two units, which went online in 2010 and 2011, each generating as much as 634 megawatts.
