Oak Creek Power Generating Campus, Wisconsin
The Oak Creek Power Generating Campus is the largest coal-fired plant in Wisconsin. It is located in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, adjacent to Lake Michigan, the source of its cooling water. The campus is comprised of two separate power plants: Oak Creek Power Plant (OCPP) and Elm Road Generating Station (ERGS). Oak Creek Power Plant is home to 4 older coal-fired units, whose combined net output capacity is 1,135MW. Individual units became operational in 1959, 1961, 1965, and 1967. Meanwhile, Elm Road Generating Station (ERGS) is a modern plant with two coal-fired units, whose combined net output capacity is 1,268MW, and became fully operational in 2011. The combined total output of both plants is 2,403MW. Both plants are owned and operated by WEC Energy Group.
