Oconee Nuclear Power Plant, South Carolina
Oconee Nuclear Power Plant lies nestled along the shore of Lake Keowee, from which it draws its cooling water. The plant is home to three pressurized water reactors, all of which have output capacities of around 846MW. Operating licenses for Units 1 and 2 were issued in 1973, while Unit 3's operating license was issued in 1974. The plant is operated by Duke Energy Corporation. Duke Energy's World of Energy, an education center featuring self-guided exhibits which outline energy production, is also on site.
