Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska

Offutt was at the center of much of the Cold War, as headquarters of the Strategic Air Command, responsible for the nation's entire fleet of nuclear bombers, and then Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, until SAC was deactivated in 1992. The 4,056-acre base is still a major and important command base, as the headquarters of STRATCOM, the replacement for SAC.
