Old Dutch Mustard Plant, New Hampshire
This plant in the small southern New Hampshire town of Greenville is a major producer of sour things like vinegar and mustard, which it sells in bulk to other company’s to market under their own brands. It is also the primary source of the Old Dutch brand of mustard, one of the more popular brands in the country, which is marketed by the plant’s company, Pilgrim Foods. Unfortunately, a lot of acetic acid has been released by the plant into local streams, lowering the PH to the point where no life exists in some of them. The matter is being addressed by the company, which has been fined significantly for allowing this to happen.
