Oshkosh Truck makes heavy duty vehicles, mostly for military and fire-fighting. It has two production plants here, in the city of Oshkosh, at the northeast corner of the local airport. This is also the headquarters for the Oshkosh Corporation, which makes specialty vehicles and machinery under a number of divisions (including Oshkosh Defense, JLG Industries, Pierce Manufacturing, McNeilus, Jerr-Dan, Frontline Communications, and IMT). It makes aircraft tow vehicles, and airport crash rescue trucks, and lots of fire trucks of all types. The company is the sole supplier of medium and heavy tactical trucks for the Army and Marines, and builds the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, which is the update of the Humvee, of which an expected 55,000 will be made, mostly for the Army, a contract valued at $50billion. The company has 29 manufacturing locations, eight of them in the USA.
