Paisley Park, Minnesota
Paisley Park is the studio, production center, and home, of the musician Prince, who passed away in 2016. It has been turned into a publicly visitable place, as well as an active media production center for his legacy. Different tour levels are available, starting at $45. Paisley Park was built over a period of two years following the success of Prince’s Purple Rain record and film. Opening in1987, the building has 65,000 square feet, and resembles an office park engineering facility of some kind. It is not secluded, down the road from a General Mills plant, in the western edge of the Twin Cities’ suburban corporate office sprawl, plainly visible from the public highway it is on. Prince said Paisley Park is a concept and a myth, as much as it is a physical place.
