Plaster City, California

This plant at Plaster City is one of the largest gypsum plants in the country, and is owned by U.S. Gypsum, a company that manufactures more than half of the drywall in the United States. The source of the gypsum is the Fish Creek mine, connected to the plant by a railway. In 2001, a $105 million gypsum wallboard plant was added to the facility.
