Quad Cities Nuclear Power Plant, Illinois
Quad Cities Nuclear Power Plant is located in Cordova, Illinois, adjacent to the Mississippi River, the source of its cooling water. The plant is home to two boiling water reactors, and is owned and operated by Exelon Corporation. The combined output of its two reactor units is 1,800 megawatts. Its operating license was issued in 1972. The site is also home to the Quad Cities Station Fish Hatchery, which Exelon claims is the only privately-owned fish hatchery on the Mississippi River.
