Rockport Power Plant, Indiana

The Rockport Power Plant’s 1,038-foot-tall smokestack is said to be the tallest in the state. The plant is located near Rockport, Indiana, adjacent to the Ohio River, the source of its cooling water. The plant has two coal-fired units, whose combined net output capacity is 2,600MW. It went online in 1984, and gets its coal by rail from Wyoming's Powder River Basin. The plant is operated by Indiana Michigan Power, a subsidiary of American Electric Power (AEP).
