Rohm and Haas Deer Park, Texas

Rohm and Haas is the world's largest manufacturer of methacrylate and acrylic monomers, used to make latex paints, of the variety found in consumer big box stores. The Deer Park plant was built after WWII, by the Philadelphia-based chemical company. Rohm and Haas specializes in acrylic chemistry, and is a leading producer of the source chemicals for paints, adhesives, and laminates. The company owns other plants around the country, including two additional ones in Texas: the nearby Lone Star Plant, and the Bayport plant in La Porte. In 2009, Rohm and Haas was purchased by Dow Chemical Co. for $16.3 billion.
