Rumford Pulp and Paper Mill, Maine
The Rumford Pulp and Paper Mill is an integrated pulp and paper facility, located on a bend on the Androscoggin River in western Maine. The plant was built here in 1901, and makes coated paper, specialty papers, and market pulp. It is owned by the ND Paper Company, which is part of Nine Dragons Limited, a Chinese company, based in Hong Kong, which is the largest containerboard maker in Asia. ND also owns the paper mill in Old Town, Maine, and mills in West Virginia and Wisconsin. This plant is one of a half dozen or so major paper mills still operating in Maine.
