Sioux Power Plant, Missouri
Sioux Power Plant is located in West Alton, Missouri, adjacent to the Mississippi River, the source of its cooling water. The plant is home to two coal-fired units, whose combined output capacity is 972MW. Units 1 and 2 have output capacities of around 486MW apiece, becoming operational in 1967 and 1968 respectively. The plant's cyclone boilers are also capable of burning rubber tire chips and petroleum coke for fuel. The plant is owned by the Ameren Corporation.
