South Warren Steel Plant, Ohio

South of Warren, Ohio is an old steel production site, located at the northern end of the once massively productive steel region known as the Mahoning Valley. The South Warren plant was recently owned by RG Steel, a company that declared bankruptcy in 2012, and is mostly inoperative. The plant has three components: the melt shop, the mill, and a coke plant, owned separately by ArcelorMittal. The melt shop had the capacity to produce 1.9 million tons of raw steel per year. At the southern end of the complex is a federal storage facility operated by the Defense Logistics Agency.
