Springerville Generating Station, Arizona

Springerville Generating Station (SGS) is located in Springerville, Arizona. It is home to four coal-fired plants whose combined net output is 1,160MW. Units 1 and 2  have an output capacity of 380MW apiece, while Units 3 and 4 have an output capacity of 400MW apiece. Units 1, 2, 3, and 4 became operational in 1985, 1990, 2006, and 2009 respectively. The station is operated by TEP/UniSource, on behalf of owners TEP (Units 1 and 2), Tri-State Generation and Transmission (Unit 3), and SRP (Unit 4). Underground aquifers supply the water required to operate the station, whose annual CO2 emissions are estimated at 8.51 MT/year.
