St. Lawrence State Psychiatric Center, New York

Much of this large state mental hospital is unused now, as is typical of institutions of this sort. Once known as the Ogdensburg Insane Asylum, some of the buildings are now used as a state prison. The sprawling campus is located on the St. Lawrence River, next to the Canadian border, as it is also typical to site places like this in the margins of their respective jurisdictions.
