Surry Nuclear Power Plant, Virginia
Surry Nuclear Power Plant sits on the south bank of the James River from which it draws its cooling water, across from Jamestown. It is home to two pressurized water reactors, and is operated by Virginia Electric & Power Company, a subsidiary of Dominion Energy. Unit 1 has an output capacity of 839MW, while Unit 2 has an output capacity of 799MW. Unit 1's operating license was issued in 1972, while Unit 2's operating license was issued in 1973. Also on site is a Nuclear Information Center, which is open to the public.
