Transportation Research Center, Ohio

This 4,500 acre operation is one of the largest and most diverse independent automotive test facilities in the country, for private and government clients, with facilities that include a 7.5 mile long, high speed oval test track, an off-road testing area, and a variety of other tracks with different road surface types, from cobblestone to ceramic tile. The Center is a major car crash test site, with impact research laboratories, crash pads, roll-over test areas, and instrumented impact walls. Its use is dominated by Honda, which has an R&D center next to the track, and has two of its four production plants in the USA at either end of it as well, their East Liberty and Marysville assembly plants.
