Travis Air Force Base, California

Major airlift and transportation base for U.S. armed forces. Large aircraft based at Travis, like the C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III, are used to transport personnel and supplies to operations in the Pacific Arena. The Navy has a reconnaissance program here, and the Army also has operations based here. The base covers 6,200 acres, and is home to the Jimmy Doolittle Air & Space Museum, with a large and extensive collection of military aircraft.
