Trementina Base, New Mexico

The Church of Spiritual Technology built and operates an underground repository near Trementina, in eastern New Mexico. The construction of the facility began in the mid 1980s, and includes a large house, a runway, and a vault to contain the archived material of the group's founder, the science fiction writer and founder of the Church of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard. Behind the vault's 6,000 pound steel doors are copies of his texts in titanium containers, inscribed on stainless steel tablets, and carved into steel recording discs that can be played on a solar-powered turntable. The site is marked with the logo of the organization, two interlocked circles with diamonds. This symbol is said to serve as a locator for craft coming from space in the future. Two similar vaults in California also have these markings.
