VLBA Antenna St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, US Territories
The easternmost antenna for the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), is located on the road near Point Udall, the easternmost point in the USA. The VLBA is a radio astronomy observatory antenna, composed of ten 82-foot collectors spread out across the USA from here to Hawaii, working together to form a radio antenna 5,000 miles wide. Information is collected from each site and sent to the Operations Center at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, in Socorro, New Mexico.
