Volpentest HAMMER Training Site, Washington

Created in 1997 by the Department of Energy on the edge of the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, HAMMER (formerly known as the Hazardous Materials Management and Emergency Response Training and Education Center) is an 88-acre training site full of realistic props to train cleanup and emergency response personnel. Props used by police, hazmat, Homeland Security personnel, fire control teams, and the military, include a confined space dive pool, a simulated contraband drug lab, a tanker truck/rail car accident burn pad, a six-story tower with interior and exterior stairways, and a three-story building with configurable mazes, smoke generation and noise effects.
