Vulcan Park, Alabama

Looming above Birmingham is a statue of Vulcan, alluding to the iron and steel industry that once dominated the region. Built in 1904 for the St. Louis World's Fair, Vulcan is said to be the largest cast iron statue in the world, standing 56-feet tall. Some good overlooks, and a small visitor center for the city.
