West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, Maine
Image

The lighthouse at West Quoddy Head is the easternmost building in the USA. The international boundary emerges from the sea off the Head, and heads inland. The area is often socked in by fog, and a fog horn periodically sounds off next to the lighthouse. At the base of the bluff, the continental USA extends for a few hundred yards over rocks to the easternmost point of land. The lighthouse grounds are open to the public, and there is a small museum inside.
