Guggenheim Camp

Much of this shore of Lower Saranac Lake was owned by William West Durant, who was happy to sell it to anyone of wealth and high society, regardless of their faith. Daniel Guggenheim, one of the builders of the Knollwood camp/club, built his own camp nearby. In 1963, he donated the main camp and 130 acres to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ogdensburg, which runs it as a camp and retreat site, known as the Guggenheim Center.
