Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex was built for the Olympics, which were held in the region in the winter of 1980 (as well as in 1932). Today it is run as a training site and as a tourist attraction. For a $20 admission charge, visitors can take an elevator to an observation deck in the 120-meter jump tower, which provides a panoramic view of the area, as well as a view of the top of the adjacent 90-meter jump tower. The site is operated by the Olympic Regional Development Authority, which manages a few of the Olympics legacy sites, including ice rinks and the Olympics Museum in downtown Lake Placid. Lake Placid is a highly developed part of Adirondack Park, which includes a touristed downtown and several outlying attractions.
