The Oval Wood Dish company plant made simple wooden products, like clothespins, bowling pins, flooring, popsicle sticks, bowls, and those flat spoon-like things used to eat takeout frozen custard and such. The company moved its plant to Tupper Lake from Michigan in 1917, and was one of the major industries in this town that was once the largest lumber town in the state. The plant closed in 1964, and has been mostly idle since then.
