William Avery Rockefeller II, a great nephew of John D. Rockefeller, built Camp Wonundra here, on Upper Saranac Lake, in 1933, designed by William G. Distin. It is now called The Point, and is a resort “where wilderness meet luxury.” Rooms start at $2,000 a night, or $29,600 a night for the whole site.
