The Coast Realty real estate sign can be seen in front of the building in the photograph from this 1960 listing, which is located a block west of the Coast Realty office. The 4,000-square foot Spanish revival-style building, made of brick covered in stucco, had a business downstairs and apartments upstairs. In 1976 most of the block burned down in a disastrous fire, when a pipeline carrying gasoline was accidentally ruptured during a water main replacement project. A jet of fuel sprayed on the buildings on the north side of the street, then ignited, engulfing the entire block in flames. This building, housing a dress shop at the time, was severely damaged, but did not burn to the ground, like the other wooden buildings on the block. Nevertheless it was torn down, rather than rebuilt, and its address is now part of a parking lot.
