This commercial storefront was built in 1932, and later enlarged from 50 by 50 feet to 50 by 80 feet. When it was photographed in 1962, it housed a sign-making company, with a large sign that covered the variations at the top of the building’s parapet. For more than a decade it was a furniture store, specializing in French modernist designs, until 2018, when Icelandic Glacial moved into the space from its former location on Culver City’s “shortest Main Street in America.” Icelandic Glacial water is bottled underground, at the source in Iceland, enabling the company to claim that their water encounters the open air for the first time when the bottle is opened.
