The Pebble Beach area of the Monterey Peninsula has eight golf courses, a few of which are considered the most scenic and challenging in the sport. The Cyprus Point Golf Club may be the premier among them. It was designed by Alister Mackenzie, and opened in 1928, integrated into the rocky coastline, with the 16th hole requiring shooting the ball over the ocean, from one peninsula to another.
